Shrinking Our Footprint—Expanding Our Horizons
The New BIG for Edmonton is here. The Edmonton Exposition and Conference Centre is open and ready to bring even more exceptional experiences to Edmonton. With a total of 522,00 contiguous square feet, the EXPO Centre is unquestionably the premiere exhibition venue in Western Canada and the largest west of Toronto.
The new BIG is going green with Northlands Code Green. Behind the fabulous events, world class tradeshows and fine dining, the Edmonton EXPO Centre’s Hospitality and Clients Services has implemented a program to reduce its carbon footprint.
The EXPO Centre has a brand new, BIG kitchen with state of the art of equipment and we are committed to doing our part in reducing our environmental outputs.
How are doing it?
- Composting – everything from organic waste to the morning’s coffee grinds will be placed into the new green bins.
- Recycling – from all the usual suspects (paper and containers) to napkins, coffee cups and cooking oil. There are 3 stream marked recycled containers on-site allowing guests to assist in our mission.
- Reusable Items – cutlery and china in our food court area helps us cut down on consumables.
Northlands Code Green means we are committed to reducing our carbon print, utilizing methods to reduce, reuse and recycle and give back to the environment. While the Edmonton EXPO Centre is BIG, we are determined to make our impact on the environment small. Hosting your event or tradeshow at the EXPO Centre means code green and that’s good news for all of us.
Northlands is proud to be part of the industry program FRESH. The FRESH program provides the platform for Edmonton’s hospitality industry to unite their efforts and further elevate their environmental, social and economic programs—making a big difference in our city and inspiring our conference guests to do the same in their communities.
